September and October bring Oktoberfest celebrations, cider, running, Sasquatch sightings (well...sort of), art, Halloween festivities and plenty of reasons to spend a weekend in North Kitsap.
Oktoberfest at Valhöll brewing + bushel & barrel ciderhouse
Fall kicks into gear with a series of Oktoberfest celebrations around town, including The Hometown Band at Valhöll Brewing on September 20 and the 6th Annual Ciderhaus Oktoberfest at Bushel & Barrel Ciderhouse on September 27.
Expect live music, cider, beer and plenty of autumn cheer. Lederhosen optional…but certainly not discouraged!
Poulsbo Beer Run Oktoberfest
DATE: October 3, 2026
The annual Poulsbo Beer Run Oktoberfest sends runners - and plenty of walkers - along a 4.1-mile route connecting some of Poulsbo's favorite watering holes, including Valhöll Brewing, Rainy Daze Brewing, Echoes Brewing and others. It's part fun run, part brewery tour and 100% Poulsbo.
If you're looking for a fall event to build an entire weekend in Poulsbo around, this is a good one!
Norwegian Pancake Breakfast
DATES: October 4 & November 1, 2026
After Saturday's adventures, slow things WAY down with breakfast at the Poulsbo Sons of Norway.
Their traditional Norwegian Pancake Breakfast happens on the first Sunday of the month, serving pancakes and lingonberries alongside bacon, sausage, eggs and potatoes. Then walk it off with a stroll along Front Street and the Liberty Bay waterfront.
Get weird at Soggy Sasquatch
DATES: October 10–11, 2026
Bigfoot + cider + fall in the Pacific Northwest? Obviously. The Soggy Sasquatch Festival returns to Bushel & Barrel Ciderhouse for one of Poulsbo's quirkiest fall weekends! This kid-friendly and pet-friendly event is a community favorite with food, live music, farm animals, and chainsaw carving. Make a day of it, then head downtown Saturday evening for another local favorite.
Second Saturday Art Walk
October 10 & November 14, 2026
Historic Downtown Poulsbo becomes one big walkable gallery during the monthly Second Saturday Art Walk. Wander Front Street, meet local artists, pop into galleries and shops, grab dinner or a drink and explore downtown after dark. The October Art Walk pairs especially well with a full day of fall adventures… and gives you an excellent reason to stay for dinner!
Trick or Tree Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt
Beginning October 9, 2026
October brings some wonderfully strange Halloween fun to North Kitsap. At Olmsted Tree Farm, the annual Trick or Tree Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt takes the traditional egg hunt into the forest after dark. Thousands of candy-filled eggs are hidden throughout the Christmas tree fields, including glowing eggs waiting to be discovered.

The perfect fall day in Poulsbo
You definitely don't need a festival to enjoy Poulsbo in autumn. In fact, one of our favorite ways to experience town this time of year is to give yourself an entire day, wear comfortable shoes and leave just enough room in the schedule for unexpected coffee, shopping and pastry detours.

8:00 AM: Coffee first (Obviously)
Poulsbo takes its coffee seriously, so you've got options.
Start your morning at Caffé Cocina, grab something from Byrdie's Café, settle in with a cup at Poulsbo Coffee Company, or swing through Latte On Your Way before the day's adventures begin. Caffeinate now. There's a LOT to explore.
9:00 AM: Saturday? the Poulsbo Farmers Market
If you're planning a Saturday trip to Poulsbo, make the Poulsbo Farmers Market your first real stop.
The market brings together local farmers, food producers, artists and makers with farm-fresh produce, baked goods, flowers and handcrafted items — and in 2026, the market continues on Saturdays through December 12.
Load up on seasonal produce, locally made treats and a few things you absolutely did not intend to buy. And fall might be the BEST farmers market season — apples, squash, pumpkins, flowers, baked goods and all the flavors that make us want to put on a sweater.
10:00 AM: Start exploring at the Poulsbo Visitor Center
Before diving into the rest of town, stop by the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center (closed Saturday & Sunday).
This is a particularly good stop if it's your first visit to Poulsbo. Grab maps and brochures, find out what's happening around town and ask for a little local advice before setting off. Ask about events happening that day. Discover something you didn't know was here. Get a recommendation from an actual human being. :)
10:30 AM: Take a walk through Poulsbo Fish Park
Next, spend a little time exploring Poulsbo Fish Park, one of Poulsbo's best urban nature escapes.
Trails and boardwalks wind through wetlands and forest along Dogfish Creek and the Liberty Bay estuary, creating a surprisingly wild little pocket just minutes from Historic Downtown Poulsbo. Fall is an especially beautiful time to explore the park. Bring your coffee, take a slow lap and keep your eyes open for wildlife.
11:30 AM: Shop your way through Little Norway
Historic Downtown Poulsbo is made for wandering. Browse vintage finds, home décor and gifts at Red Plantation, Scandinavian-inspired goods and Nordic treasures at Nordiska, clothing and accessories at Flicka and better-2-gether, and books and gifts at Away With Words & Liberty Bay Books.
Explore the wonderfully eclectic Cargo Hold, pick up something sweet at the Poulsbo Candy Shoppe, and duck into whichever galleries, boutiques and little storefronts catch your eye along the way. This is one of the things we love most about shopping in Poulsbo: Front Street still feels like a REAL downtown filled with locally owned businesses where browsing is part of the experience.
12:30 PM: Lunch
At this point you've earned it. And when it comes to restaurants in Poulsbo, you have LOTS options.
For something casual, grab a pie at Poulsbo Woodfired Pizza or go classic-Americana at Green Light Diner. Tizley’s EuroPub has incredible Scandinavian fare and vibes. Want to stretch lunch out a little longer? Burrata Bistro brings Italian comfort food to Front Street, while The Loft serves lunch overlooking Liberty Bay. For waterfront pub vibes, head downstairs to The Brass Kraken.
1:45 PM: Discover Poulsbo's maritime history
Before jumping from lunch into the waterfront, make a stop at the Poulsbo Maritime Museum.
Operated by the Poulsbo Historical Society, the museum tells the story of Poulsbo and North Kitsap's deep relationship with the water — from the people and industries that grew up around Liberty Bay to the boats, fishing and maritime traditions that helped shape the community. It's not a massive museum. That's part of the charm.
It's an easy stop to work into a downtown walking itinerary and gives you some historical context for the harbor, boats and waterfront you're about to explore.
2:30 PM: Meet the neighbors at SEA Discovery Center
Now head to the SEA Discovery Center on Front Street - OPEN FRIDAY & SATURDAY 11AM - 4PM.
This community marine science center and public aquarium introduces visitors to the creatures and ecosystems of the Salish Sea, making it an especially fun stop with kids — although we've absolutely watched plenty of adults become equally mesmerized by anemones and sea stars.
3:15 PM: Walk the Poulsbo waterfront
Walk through Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park, wander the marina and follow the shoreline of Liberty Bay. On a crisp fall afternoon, the Poulsbo waterfront can be ridiculously beautiful: sailboats in the harbor, colorful leaves along the shoreline, gulls overhead and the Olympic Mountains occasionally appearing across the water like someone painted them there.
Explore Poulsbo's craft breweries
If your idea of a perfect fall afternoon involves a locally brewed pint, Poulsbo has you covered.
Poulsbo has developed a legit little craft brewery scene, and three amazing local stops - Valhöll Brewing, Rainy Daze Brewing and Echoes Brewing Company - make it easy to turn an afternoon into your own mini Poulsbo brewery tour.
Valhöll Brewing
If you're drinking beer in a town nicknamed Little Norway, starting at Valhöll Brewing just feels appropriate.
Located just above downtown, Valhöll is a laid-back local brewery with a Viking-inspired identity and a taproom/patio that's made for lingering. Grab a flight, find a spot outside and settle in with views toward Liberty Bay and the Olympic Mountains.
Rainy Daze Brewing
Next, head toward Viking Avenue and find Rainy Daze Brewing, a small independent brewery that's built a loyal following around creative, flavor-forward beer. Their Goat Boater IPA is a longtime standout, but part of the fun here is exploring the rotating tap list — IPAs, stouts and whatever else the brewers have been dreaming up lately. Rainy Daze describes its approach as a pursuit of “flavoration,” which honestly tells you quite a bit about what you're getting into.
Echoes Brewing Company
Keep exploring Viking Avenue and make your way to Echoes Brewing Company, an independently owned craft brewery with a spacious, family-friendly taproom and laid-back neighborhood vibe. Echoes brews its own small-batch beers and welcomes outside food, making it an easy place to grab a pint and hang out for a while. There's indoor seating, an outdoor patio and plenty of room to settle in rather than simply grab a beer and move on.
5:00 PM: Coffee round two...or perhaps something stronger
Circle back downtown for coffee at one of Poulsbo's local cafés, or officially transition into happy hour. The Sip offers wine and craft beverages in a relaxed Front Street setting, while The Brass Kraken puts you right over the water. And if cider is more your speed, Poulsbo's local drink scene has you covered there, too.
5:30 PM: One more Front Street lap
Here's the thing about shopping in Poulsbo: You ALWAYS miss something. So take one more slow walk through downtown as the afternoon crowds disappear and the lights start coming on along Front Street. Grab the book you talked yourself out of earlier. Buy the Scandinavian kitchen decor you definitely don't need. Get the kids some candy.

6:30 PM: Make dinner an event
For dinner, lean into cozy fall vibes. Settle into the warm, wine-forward atmosphere at Sogno di Vino, or head to Burrata Bistro for another intimate downtown option.Want Northwest waterfront views? The Loft is hard to beat.
