EXPLORE KITSAP LIKE A LOCAL!
Kylie, WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT KITSAP?
Kylie’s Favorite Local Meal:
‘Sometimes we meet for coffee in the mornings but we secretly love a good lunch meeting and when in Bremerton make sure you check out Yoko Yoko Ramen. Everything on the menu is fantastic and they even made us yummy mocktails to go with our lunch!’
Kylie’s Favorite Local Drink:
‘Since we work remotely and have meetings all over Kitsap, we are always on the hunt for fun and creative spaces. One of our recent meetings was at Oxalis Kitchen in Poulsbo and we give it a 10/10. If you happen to be there when they put out their fresh sourdough loaves do yourself a favor and buy one immediately. Best bread ever!
If you’re looking for a glass of wine then you have to check out Details Wine Bar in downtown Poulsbo. They have amazing local wines and the decore inside is dreamy and inviting. They are a firefighter family-owned business and our favorite spot to have a glass of wine and work. Bonus tip: if you see Honey Malcolm Winery on the menu, order a glass of their Draco Red (we designed the wine label!).’
Kylie’s Favorite Local Brand or Business:
‘One of our favorite local businesses that really inspire us is the Lisa Stirrett Creative Warrior Studio. They recently opened a coffee shop inside the art studio so you can drink coffee and create fun DIY glass projects. Their studio helps fund a women empowerment non-profit that gives micro business loans to women in Africa to start their own businesses and support their families. If you’re in Silverdale you have to stop in there and check out the jewelry the women in Africa have made and hear the stories of impact.
A great local place to go and treat yourself is Indigo Plum in (you guessed it) downtown Poulsbo. The owner Megan is a friend of mine and they have the best clothes and shoes for the whole family. One time my husband and I went in on a date and came out in matching birks.’
Kylie’s Favorite Sunny/rainy Day Activity:
‘Our favorite thing to do in the sunshine is swim at Panther Lake and take a ride on my in-laws Pontoon boat. There is no greater place than kayaking with the kids on the lake while bald eagles swoop above and you can see blue skies and snow on the mountains in the distance.’
Kylie’s Favorite Spot to Take First-Time Visitors:
‘First things first we go to lunch or dinner at Silver City Restaurant. We love that place and have been VIP members for years. After lunch, going on a walk in downtown Poulsbo is always a go-to of ours, and having Sluys Bakery for a treat while we shop and see all the sights.’
KYLIE’s favorite Sunday morning community outing:
‘On Sunday mornings our family goes to church at newlife North Kitsap right by North Kitsap High School. After church, you will find me doing my weekly grocery haul at local shops and I like to meal prep for the week while our family has downtime before we head into the new week. My husband is a firefighter so sometimes he is with us on Sunday and sometimes he is on shift and they look a little different. Sunday ‘reset days’ have become my new favorite day of the week!’
From Kylie’s Camera Roll:
What KYLIE loveS about Kingston:
‘Kingston is dreamy, we love going to Downpour Brewing for live music, yummy beer and snacking on some to-go grub hub food.’
What Kylie loves about Bainbridge:
‘Bainbridge is beautiful, there is no doubt about it. Whenever we have guests from out of town we love taking them to downtown Bainbridge. The restaurants and shopping are wonderful as well as going on walks or to Fay Bainbridge with the kids.’
What KYLIE loves about Poulsbo:
‘We are biased and we don’t care. Poulsbo is the best! This little slice of heaven we call home is not only community-focused but thriving with new businesses, events, and fun things to do. Where else can you have chickens and goats in your backyard, feeling all the country feels, and yet also be a quick boat ride to downtown Seattle to watch a Seahawk game?! Poulsbo is perfect and we love it.’
What KYLIE loves about Silverdale:
‘As a Central Kitsap High School graduate Silverdale will always have a sweet piece of my heart. I also sit on the advisory board at the Hazelwood YMCA so I am in Silverdale all the time. It truly is the heart of Kitsap County.’
What KYLIE loves about Bremerton:
‘We heard Bremerton is becoming a creative district and we are thrilled! Bremerton is full of unique shops and stores and downtown has had such a transformation over the years. Fun fact if you see the glass benches down by the waterfront take a peek at them. When I was a senior in high school I got to be the assistant who helped Lisa Stirrett create the benches and each time I look at them, it makes me smile.’
