Start Your Morning on Bay Street
Ease into the day along Bay Street, where the marina sparkles and the storefronts feel like they’ve been waiting for you. Grab a coffee and something warm from a local café, then take your time drifting between shops - antiques, small boutiques, and a few unexpected treasures tucked between historic buildings. This is the heart of Port Orchard, and it moves at just the right pace. Josephine’s Mercantile is a wonderland of curated antiques, vintage items, and collectibles…we could wander Jo’s for hours perusing all of the vendor’s unique collections. Right across the street is Gathered by Jo’s, Josephine’s sister store & one of Bay Street's most exciting retail shops. With huge corner windows, Gathered is filled with light…it is also filled with an incredible collection of PNW + Kitsap County apparel, gifts, and decor and is home to the owner’s personal section of curated antiques. Set inside a unique historic space that once housed the first Ford Model T warehouse on the Kitsap Peninsula. Sharing space with gathered is Mainline Music - a shop filled with instruments ran by local musicians who are friendly and eager to help.
Go antiquing at Olde Central Antique Mall
Just down the street is the The Olde Central Antique Mall - one of the best places to go antiquing on the Kitsap Peninsula…and it’s also just feet from the foot ferry! 40+ vendors absolutely fill this space with all manner of rare, vintage, and antique items and collections. As you wander through Olde Central, you never know what treasures you’ll discover!
Grab a coffee or tea
Slow down and perk up with coffee stop at Mercantile Coffee Co., Coffee Oasis, or Tea Alchemy & Gilded Exchange - each one offering its own take on a great cup, from classic espresso to small-batch roasts and scratch-made pastries. Relax into the slow and easy vibe of whatever coffee or tea shop you choose, they likely have wifi if you need it and people watch, enjoy an easy conversation and sip on your favorite drink. Tea Alchemy has a massive selection of loose leaf tea that you can sip while your there or take a lend home to try later.
Books & curios & records (oh my!)
After you’ve acquired a cup of joe, wander a few doors down to Salmonberry Books, a cozy independent bookstore filled with thoughtful titles for kids and adults alike, then pop into C-Side Records to flip through vinyl and maybe leave with an album you didn’t know you needed. Stop by Crow’s Curiosities for some of the most interesting & unique gift items in all of the Kitsap Peninsula. This short walk brings you to a pavilion and benches perfect for a picnic or a quick rest with beautiful views. The Port Orchard Waterfront Park is a local favorite for those with kids and you’ll often see young ones playing on the popular playground. A pedestrian path winds North from the park, past the Soroptimist Overlook, which has a stairwell offering access to a cute little sandy beach. If you choose to follow the path further, you’ll quickly find Rockwell Park - a tiny enclave with seating, tables, and a little sandy beach perfect for relaxing and taking in the view.
Lunch at Peninsula Bevco or khao soi
Port Orchard loves Bevco and the vision + team behind this legit local spot. Beer lovers will get lost in the MASSIVE selection on tap, in bottles, and cans. Plus, foodies will love all the comfort favorites. Their patio overlooks Sinclair Inlet and is the perfect place to sip a beer or cider on a hot day. We are fans of the rice quinoa bowl, their flatbreads, and amazing mac and cheese!
Tuck into a truly memorable lunch at Khao Soi, where the aromas alone will pull you in from Bay Street. This cozy Thai spot has built a loyal following for its namesake dish, a rich, coconut curry noodle soup layered with tender meats, soft noodles, and crispy toppings. The menu leans into Northern Thai comfort food with bold, balanced flavors, and everything comes out fresh, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. Grab a seat by the window if you can, let the waterfront hum in the background, and settle into a meal that feels both transportive and right at home in Port Orchard.

If you brought your sweet tooth with you to Bay Street, then a stop into Carter’s is a MUST. Treat yourself to yummy homemade ice cream and chocolates, and a huge selection of eats and treats, including freshly baked sourdough bread, delicious quiches, and sweet + savory pastries. This thoughtfully stocked market leans local and organic, with fresh sandwiches, grab-and-go salads, snacks, and drinks that travel well and taste even better once you’re out in the trees. Pick up a few treats, maybe something sweet for later, and you’re set. From there, it’s a short, scenic drive to Manchester State Park, where your picnic unfolds between forest trails, historic bunkers, and wide-open shoreline views that make every bite feel like part of the adventure.
appreciate local art and history at the sidney art galley & museum
Take a quiet moment to connect with the creative and cultural roots of the waterfront at Sidney Art Gallery & Museum. This small but meaningful space showcases rotating local art alongside exhibits that tell the story of Port Orchard’s early days as Sidney, weaving together maritime history, community life, and regional creativity. It’s an easy stop that adds depth to your day, where paintings, artifacts, and stories come together in a way that feels both personal and distinctly tied to place.
Midday Reset at Manchester State Park
A short drive drops you into a completely different mood. Manchester State Park blends epic shoreline views with mossy forest trails and remnants of old coastal military defense structures. Wander through the historic bunkers, explore the beach, or find a quiet picnic table under the trees. It’s the kind of place where kids can roam and adults can breathe a little deeper. Stop into the small community of Manchester for a steak, a beer and some incredible views of Seattle.
one more meal
Round out the day with one more great meal on Bay Street, choosing your own ending depending on the mood. Go casual and satisfying with a pie from Damn Fine Pizza, where the crust hits that perfect balance of crisp and chewy and the toppings don’t hold back. DFP is big with waterfront views and a cozy pinball room to boot! Settle in for something classic at Blue Goose Tavern, a longtime local favorite known for hearty plates, cold drinks, and that unmistakable neighborhood feel. Or lean into a solid, no-fuss finish with a burger and fries at Brickhouse Bar & Grill, where the portions are generous and the vibe is easygoing. However you close it out, it feels like the kind of meal that matches the day…uncomplicated, satisfying, and best enjoyed without rushing.
