State Parks in Kitsap

State Parks on the Kitsap Peninsula are truly distinct.

We love exploring our state parks, no matter the season…but spring/summer is a truly special time to get outside and appreciate all that the Kitsap Peninsula has to offer.

Miles of shorelines, thousands of wooded acres, hundreds of camping sites, and boundless adventures await inside each of our precious state parks.

Editor’s Note: Entering a Washington State Park will require paid admission. If you plan to visit more than one park per year, the Discover Pass is the most useful tool for admission. You can purchase your Discover Pass online, in person at any state park location, or while renewing your vehicle license, or while purchasing a state fishing or hunting license, or at several retail locations near you.

Golf courses

Looking to tee off this summer? Kitsap County’s golf scene is calling your name…

Bremerton

Gold Mountain

This 36-hole public facility offers two championship layouts—the elevated, strategic Olympic Course and the walkable, enjoyable Cascade Course—both nestled among towering evergreens and rolling PNW terrain with smooth, well-maintained greens, a full driving range, putting and chipping areas.

Kitsap Golf & Country Club

Founded in 1924, this 18-hole course boasts well-groomed fairways, subtly contoured greens, and a few well-placed bunkers and water hazards to keep you honest. The clubhouse feels like a retreat: enjoy a casual breakfast or lunch in the café, relax in the full-service lounge and bar, hone your swing on the driving range and practice green.

Rolling Hills

If you're seeking a friendly, walkable course with classic PNW charm, Rolling Hills is your summer sweet spot. This 18-hole course offers a solid challenge —tight fairways, undulating greens, and mature evergreens frame every shot. The course is public, easy to walk, and perfect for intermediate players looking to sharpen their game.

Port Orchard

McCormick Woods

Nestled among towering firs, cedars, and hidden lakes, this championship-style 18-hole public course was designed in harmony with its natural setting and offers five tee placements to suit golfers of all levels. After your round, settle into the Clubhouse Restaurant & Bar, where seasonal Northwest cuisine is served up alongside killer views of the ninth green—perfect for a post‑round pint or a relaxed dinner on the patio.

Trophy Lake

Designed by renowned architect John Fought, this 18‑hole championship course winds through lush forests with sloping fairways, expansive greens, and over 80 strategic sand bunkers—plus breathtaking vistas of the Olympics and Mount Rainier. What really sets Trophy Lake apart: you can enjoy an afternoon of cast-and-catch fly fishing in on-course ponds stocked with rainbow trout, turning your 18 holes into a rare blend of sport and solitude.

Kingston

White Horse Golf Course

Just a quick drive off the Kingston ferry dock (hello, Seattle golfers!), this public 18‑hole gem is a full-on Pacific Northwest experience—towering firs and sweeping Puget Sound views. With five tee options, a stellar practice range and chipping areas, and a rustic lodge-style clubhouse complete with Cedar Ridge Grill patio overlooking hole 18, it’s the ideal spot to stretch out your swing, grab a seasonal bite, and soak in the scenery.

Bainbridge Island

Meadowmee Golf & Country Club

This semi-private, nine-hole gem (with a clever 18-hole setup using alternate tees) meanders through stands of fir and cedar, offering subtle challenges. Whether you're teeing off before catching the ferry or unwinding afterward, Meadowmeer’s friendly pace and polished course maintenance make it the ideal spot for a summer escape. Plus, swing over to the cozy Meadowmeer Bar & Grill post-round for hearty American fare, local brews, and a laid-back patio vibe open to the public.
